Rollechim Reactors, as a result of over 50 years
experience in phthalic anhydride, maleic anhydride
and formaldehyde manufacturing plants, are conceived, designed and manufactured according to the most stringent safety
and quality standards, suitable for the highest possible concentration of raw
material in the feeding stream. The supply of Rollechim's Reactors can be either made in accordance to Customer's Specification Sheet or according to Rollechim's design and manufacturing standards, so achieving the state of the art in terms of fixed-bed catalyst Reactor' supply.

ROLLECHIM'S REACTORS TECHNOLOGY AT A GLANCE
Versatility:
- upper head has a self-opening cover; the opening of Reactor's top cover can
be made without any particular device (such as cranes, etc.) so allowing an easy
access and very quick operations on discharging/filling
the catalyst;
- the inlet feeding gas chamber is designed with special baffles
to keep the perfect mixing of the raw
material into air stream and ensuring the most homegeneous feeding gas distribution on the entire surface of Reactor's tube-sheet;
- the salt circulation pump and the salt-cooler are installed
inside the reactor, allowing a perfect circulation of the entire salt-bath mass,
a better temperature control and a reduction of temperature stress
in the material;
- suitable number of thermal resistances are placed in Reactor's perimetral area, allowing the salt-bath mass to always remain in
molten state also during plant shut-downs, for
a long time too, and avoiding in such a way uneconomical
dead-times during re-start-up (in fact during the catalyst replacing operations,
the salt mass discharging into external salt tank is totally avoided so reducing consistently
the operation time on this activity and increasing the profitable nrmal operation of Reaction unit).
Safety:
- salts circulation inside Reactor is properly designed to eliminate
the risk of preferential patterns between
the tubes and to guarantee an optimum homogeneous
distribution of the temperatures, that allows to operate
at high loads (i.e. up to 100 g/Nm3 of o-Xylene concentration into air in PA process Reactors) with the
maximum plant and process safety;
- safety passive devices (such as rupture disks), in case of run-away
reactions, are calculated for the maximum possible raw material load
and are placed both on the upper and in the
lower heads;
- salt leakage indicators placed in the bottom head continuously check
the possible presence of salt so avoiding dangerous situations;
- heads for maleic anhydride production Reactors are properly conceived and manufactured to reduce to the minimum all free volumes, so achieving the highest safety level against explosions.
